Central Armed Police Forces Examination, UPSC CAPF 2024: Eligibility, Important dates, Salary, Syllabus
UPSC CAPF exam is conducted by The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to recruit candidates for the post of Assistant Commandant (AC) in the CAPFs. The CAPFs are five central police forces of India, namely, the Border Security Force (BSF), the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

UPSC CAPF 2024 Examination : Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the UPSC CAPF Examination, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Nationality: Must be an Indian citizen.
- Age: Must be between 20 and 25 years of age as on August 1 of the year of examination.
- Educational Qualification: Must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
Selection Process for UPSC CAPF 2024 Exam
The CAPF Examination is a three-stage examination:
- Stage 1: Written Examination: This examination consists of two objective-type papers: General Ability and Intelligence of 250 marks and General Studies Essay and comprehension of 200 marks.
- Stage 2: Physical Endurance and Medical Test (PET/PST): Candidates who qualify in the Written Examination are called for a PET/PST. The PET/PST consists of the following tests:

UPSC CAPF 2024: Syllabus
The syllabus for the CAPF Examination is as follows:
General Ability and intelligence
- General Mental Ability including logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude numerical ability and data interpretation
- General Science including general awareness, scientific temperament, environmental science, information technology
- Current events of national and international importance
- Indian Polity and Economy
- History of India
- Indian and world Geography
General Studies, Essay and Comprehension
Paper A :Total 80 marks essay has to be written in Hindi or English on the topics of Indian history.
Part B : Language skills would be judged including simple grammar, comprehension and precise writing.
UPSC CAPF 2024: Salary Structure
The CAPF AC salary ranges from ₹ 56,100 to 1,77,500/-. The candidates selected for the post will receive a similar amount based on their rank and job profile. Their CAPF salary structure includes Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, etc.
How to Apply for CAPF 2024 Exam
Candidates can apply for this exam online only. You have to log in to https://upsconline.nic.in Candidates should first Register themselves by OTR (one time Registration) process. This registration process is free and mandatory for every one who is planning to apply for any UPSC job. After registration he can apply for the job when published.
Candidate cannot withdraw their application after submitting it. However candidate can change his profile after online submission just once only.
Candidates should choose their exam centers carefully
Important Instructions to Apply Online for CAPF 2024 Exam
Before applying online candidate should have his photograph and signature scanned ready with him. Each separate file should be less then 300 kb in size and should be more then 20 kb in size.
The details of photo ids like Aadhar card/PAN card/ Driving License/ Passport etc should be handy with the candidate while applying online. The details submitted while applying should match with the ids as these ids would be needed at the time of examination for verification purpose.
A valid email id which should be active is vital for communication with the commission and for form submission.
